Session 1: Power Skating
When: August 26 - 30, 2019
Time: 8:30 - 9:45am
Where: Vivo East
Cost: $200.00
Maximum: 20 players
All Power Skating sessions and development will be focused on incorporating performance skating development skills coupled with player development skills. Morning sessions will be run in conjunction with HDL Power Skating Group and will work on all aspects of skating development skills including:
- Balance & Posture
- Edge Control
- On-Ice Speed, Quickness, & Agility
- Forward & Backward Starts, Stops, & Strides
- Tight Turns, Cross-Overs, & Cross-Unders
- Lateral Mobility, Pivots, & Transitional Skating
As a progression to the skating development skill, instructors will introduce hockey development skills such as:
- Hockey Performance Skating Skills
- Puck Control & Stickhandling Skills
- Passing & Receiving Skills
- Shooting Skills
Combining the skating development with hockey development skills will help to improve a players overall speed and agility, with and without the puck.
Session 2: Skate & Skills
When: August 26 - 30, 2019
Time: 10:15 - 11:30am
Where: Vivo East
Cost: $295.00
Maximum: 20 players
Success on the ice requires a combination of technical skills, tactical abilities, and decision-making skills. Skate & Skills offers an age-appropriate progression of all these hockey development skills. The week has been designed to allow players to develop various skills through progression-based drills that build on the previous day’s teachings throughout the week.
Hockey Development Skills include:
- Performance Skating Puck Control & Stickhandling
- Passing & Receiving
- Shooting
- Deking & Deception
- Offensive / Defensive Battling
- Stick Checking
Tactical Skills:
- Games & Situational Drills
- Offensive and Defensive Spatial Skills
- Quick Decision-Making
Athletic Skills:
- Hockey Stance / Balance /Stability
- Mobility /Agility / Coordination
Session 3: Tactical Skills & Small Area Games
When: August 26 - 30, 2019
Time: 2:00 - 3:15pm
Where: Vivo West
Cost: $250.00
Maximum: 20 players
Tactical Skills coupled with small area games have become an important skill in player development. Teaching players to react and make quick decisions to win puck battles in tight areas on the ice. Players that master the skill of going to hard areas on the ice and winning battles down low or in front of the net to retain or regain puck possession are an asset to any team and can be the difference between winning and losing.
In this camp players will learn:
- Proper skating techniques to promote quicker transitions up and down the ice;
- Zone entries and attack skills;
- Proper body positioning for better and puck protection and retrieval;
- Escape moves and containment techniques;
- Net front battling techniques and tactics;
- Proper stick control and how to use it to your advantage;
- Proper angling techniques;
- Importance of gap control;
- Supporting the puck.
